The “Pride of the Tribe” Varsity Wind Ensemble earned a first division superior rating in each of the UIL Region 16 Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.

2022 UIL Region Concert and Sight-Reading Contests

On Wednesday, April 20th, the “Pride of the Tribe” Varsity Wind Ensemble competed at the UIL  Region 16 Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. The band earned a first division superior rating in each of the Concert and Sight-Reading Contests. The first division ratings in Concert and  Sight-Reading, along with the first division rating in Marching Band earlier this year, gave the band their UIL Sweepstakes award for the 2021-2022 school year. This is the 13th UIL  Sweepstakes award for the band in the last 15 years.  

The Varsity Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Adam Bodine, Lyndsey Dean, Landon Camp,  and John Rogers, Performed “Prestissimo March”, “West Highlands Sojourn”, and “Our  Kingsland Spring”. All three judges gave many high remarks about the maturity and quality of the musical performance by the band. Outstanding Soloists for the band were Madison Feiler on Flute, Daniel Lapusan on Alto Saxophone, Logan Jennings on Trumpet, and Johnny Klassen and Caleb Stanley on Euphonium. 

The Wind Ensemble will be competing at the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival in Austin, on  Saturday, May 7th.
